After his blistering pace at the Rotax Winter Cup, there would have been some that may have had an eye on Olli but for those who didn’t that was all about to change.

The season opener took place at the Genk circuit in Belgium and Olli got his weekend underway in impressive style with 3rd in qualifying. A win in his
heats helped him to qualify 4th for the Pre-Final and first point scoring race of the season.

After a hectic start to the race fellow competitor Adam Smalley had been able to break clear out front by almost two seconds. But once Olli was in 2nd he closed
Smalley down without any assistance and soon hit the front. However, behind things were bunching up with five drivers battling for the lead. Olli dropped to 5th when passed by the more experienced drivers which included Axel Charpentier, but recovered well to finish 4th just behind 2nd place.

The first half of the final saw Olli work perfectly with Charpentier and Smalley to break away from the rest of the field, but halfway through the race Olli unfortunately collided with Smalley slightly which dropped him to 7th place. It was unlucky on Olli’s part, but he didn’t give up and managed to fight through a queue of drivers defending to recover to 5th place.
