It was a weekend of mixed fortunes, but overall there were lots of positives to take away for Olli from his debut in the ADAC F4 championship. Racing at Oschersleben for the first time Olli learnt a lot from a circuit that often proves difficult to overtake on.

With the championship heading to Oschersleben for the second time this season Olli found himself down on track time on his competitors as well as racing experience. Still determined to put in some good results Olli’s main focus for the weekend was to improve his times each session and

Things didn’t get off to the best start in practice with Olli suffering from some problems with the car, but all fixed for the second practice session he was able to
improve his times despite a number of red flags. One of many lessons learnt in practice was how hard it was going to be to overtake on the narrow circuit which would make Saturday morning’s qualifying session even more important!

In that session Olli was once again improving in times and finished the session in 23rd place with three races to follow over the rest of the weekend!

The first race saw Olli get a good initial get away before being pushed back to 27th on the opening lap. From there he was taking on the tough challenge of overtaking at Oschersleben and was able to work his way back through to 23rd place. There were a lot of positives to take away with his pace looking good along with his ability to get past drivers.

That would all come in handy for race two which saw Olli having to start from the pit lane. That left Olli the challenge of having to catch up with the pack before he could think about moving forward. However, more improvement in pace meant he was able to do just that and he in fact worked his way up to 20th place!

Now on for what looked set to be his best result of the weekend so far whilst challenging for 19th on the last lap Olli hit terminal engine problems which saw his race ended just metres from the end. It was a tough one to take for Olli, a good result had been cruelly taken away from him but that’s racing. Olli quickly realised all the positives from the race and took that as added confidence heading into race three on Sunday.

That confidence proved it’s worth with Olli driving a great race on Sunday to get his best result of the weekend with 22nd place. Olli was involved in a huge battle on track for 11th with eleven drivers split by just over three seconds. Olli’s pace was once again improving as he was quicker than all bar one of the drivers in that group.

So overall it was a mixed weekend in terms of results, but lots of progress was made and Olli will only be looking to improve on those results as he continues his ADAC
F4 campaign.

: "The race weekend in Germany didn't go too well for me but after half a day at home I'm going to Italy and hope to repeat what I did in Vallelunga."

As Olli said, it’s results similar to Vallelunga which he’ll be chasing at the famous Mugello circuit this weekend for the fourth round of the Italian F4 Championship!
