Olli excited for Oschersleben after successful winter testing

Olli Caldwell will get his 2018 season underway at Oschersleben this weekend with the ADAC F4 Championship. After finishing 2nd at the official pre-season test Olli is confident in a strong result this weekend!

It’s been a long winter, but after a lot of hard work and preparation it’s finally time for Olli Caldwell to go racing again! Olli will be kicking off his 2018 season in the ADAC F4 Championship at the Oschersleben circuit in Germany.

One of the big changes over the winter is Olli’s switch to the Prema Powerteam as he prepares for his first full season in the championship.

Last year was Olli’s first taste of racing in European F4 Championships as he took part in selected rounds of the ADAC and Italian F4 Championships with Mucke
Motorsport. It was a lot to take in for Olli having just graduated from the Ginetta Junior Championship. That combined with the fact that he would turn 15 years old just days before his first races made his task even harder!

However, the 2017 races in the ADAC F4 Championship were purely for the experience and Olli competed in just two rounds at Oschersleben and Nurburgring. With that
experience gained and some brilliant performances in the British F4 Championship, Olli started to show how all the hard work was paying off with wins in the UAE F4 Championship at Yas Marina earlier this year!

But now all attention turns to Oschersleben this weekend. There is a strong grid of over 20 drivers expected with proceedings officially getting underway at 08:00 local
time on Friday. Returning faces include Lirim Zendeli, who was 4th in last year’s championship as well as Frederik Vesti who was 7th last year.

Recent testing has proved very promising for Olli. The official Pre-Season test at Oschersleben just two weeks ago saw Olli finish in 2nd place overall by the end of day two. It was a strong improvement on the 7th of day one and will give Olli a lot of confidence heading into this weekend.

Oschersleben is a particularly difficult track to overtake on so qualifying on Friday afternoon will be key for Olli to get his weekend off to a good start. The rest of the weekend will consist of three races throughout Saturday and Sunday.

Supporting the ADAC GT Masters, the Renault Clio Cup and Porsche Carrera Cup Championships will also be on circuit so for many the ADAC F4 races will be the highlight of the weekend! There’s no doubt Olli will be looking to be the lead role in the show that plays out over the weekend.

Olli Caldwell: “I really can’t wait to start the season after successful winter testing. Hoping
to carry the pace we have shown forwards into the race weekend and get our
season off to a good start!”

All three races will be streamed live on https://www.ollicaldwell.com/live with updates also going out on social media.
